Gurken mit Sosse / Cucumbers in Sour Cream
2 large cucumbers, peeled, grated, or sliced very thin
1 teaspoon salt
1 medium onion, chopped
¼ cup sour cream
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons vinegar
Pepper to taste
Place cucumbers in colander and sprinkle with salt. Allow to stand in sink about 10 minutes until liquid can be squeezed from sliced cucumbers. Place cucumbers and chopped onion in a glass serving dish. In a small mixing bowl combine sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, and a dash of pepper, stirring until smooth. Pour dressing over cucumbers and onions. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving so that it attains its full, zesty flavor.
