This recipe for oatmeal cookies may be a bit different than the traditional one you’ve been using, with its inclusion of sour milk!
Hafer-Flocken Kecks (Oatmeal Cookies)
½ cup lard
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 ½ cups flour
2 ½ cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon soda
4 tablespoons sour milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup raisins, if desired
Cream lard, add sugar and mix well. Add one egg at a time and beat well after each addition. Add flour, oatmeal and soda alternately with milk and vanilla. Add raisins if desired. Drop by teaspoons onto greased baking sheet and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 12 to 15 minutes.
