Zuber’s Homestead Hotel has 15 “one of a kind” guest rooms. When you come to stay at Zuber’s you have choices to make regarding which room will best meet your interests and needs. First you’ll need to decide whether you want to stay on the main floor or upstairs. There are 7 rooms on the main floor and 8 rooms upstairs. The upstairs rooms are on two separate sides and each side has its own “traditional Amana” staircase, which means they are slightly steeper than we are used to in modern homes. So if walking up and down steps is a challenge for you, then you’ll want to choose between rooms 1 – 7. We are an 1862 constructed building so there is no elevator and part of our history are the staircases. There are of course hand rails to help as you use the stairs. Next you’ll want to think about the size of the room you want. Our rooms range from cozy to large rooms with a seating area in them. All our rooms have a bathroom within the room, a TV, free wifi, in-room control of heat and air conditioning, a dorm sized mini-frig, an iron and ironing board, a suitcase rack, a place to hang your clothes, and at least one chair to relax in. Some of the larger rooms also have a microwave. Depending on the size of the room there will be a single queen bed, 2 queen beds, 2 full beds, or a king bed. Each room has a limit to the amount of guest allowed stay in the room, please be sure to keep that in mind with your selection. Finally, each room is decorated with a different theme. The themes of the rooms connect with the Amana Colonies and with the state of Iowa. In each room you’ll find a blue binder that has the history of the building, and a story about the theme of the room. In addition, we offer some suggestions of day trips you can take that connect with the theme of the room. Our website had several pictures of each room which will help you get an idea of what the room looks like. We often hear that the pictures don’t do justice to our room – but at least you’ll have an idea! Included with your night’s stay is an afternoon sweet treat if you arrive between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and we serve a hot breakfast buffet style each morning from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
In addition to the 15 rooms, we also have several seating areas you can use to relax and visit with other guests. The Wagon Wheel Room is open 24 hours a day.
If you are coming to the area several times a year – you can try a different room each time, and don’t forget to sign up for our “7th night free” promotion! Stay 6 nights during this calendar year, and we’ll give you a 7th night free! Ask for details at our front desk or read about this promotion on our website.
We hope to see you soon!
