Of all the fun parts of owning a Bed and Breakfast, probably the most rewarding part is meeting all the guests who come to stay with us and having the chance to visit and get to know them.
We have been fortunate to get to know and develop friendships with a wonderful group of couples who get together about once a year. They come from all throughout the central part of the United States. While they often gather in different states to vary the amount of driving time each couple has, we have been fortunate that in our first 4 years of owning Zuber’s they have come to stay with us 3 of those years!
In addition to being interesting and friendly couples, the common cord that brings these folks together is that all of the husbands are Vietnam Veterans. Brian and I are fortunate that this group invites us to join them – as the guys sit on the front porch and tell stories, as the girls play Dominos, or as they all sit around and relax and visit. This year we were invited to join the group as they went out to eat at the Iowa River Power Company in Coralville.
Thanks to all of these couples for coming to stay with us at Zuber’s, for your friendships, and especially – to the guys – Thank you for your service!
