This is a recipe from my collection. I copied it from my mom’s recipe collection. I am guessing it came from my Granny or my great Aunt Edith.
Banana Nut Bread
Measure and sift together:
1 ¾ c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
Blend:
⅓ c. shortening
⅔ c. sugar
Beat together until light.
Add:
2 eggs
Add dry ingredients alternately with:
1 cup mashed bananas
Mix thoroughly and blend in:
½ c. walnuts
1 c. chopped dates
Pour batter into greased loaf pan and bake in 350° oven for 1 hour or until done.
