Recipe: Nuss Plätzchen (Nut Cookies)

If you’ve got some hazelnuts (also known as filberts) handy, why not try out this recipe?

Nuss Plätzchen (Nut Cookies)

6 egg whites
2 ¼ cups sugar
Dash of cinnamon
2 cups finely chopped filberts or hazelnuts
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Beat egg whites until stiff; gradually add sugar and cinnamon and stir until well blended. Add nuts and flour sifted with baking powder. Drop by teaspoons onto greased baking sheet and bake in 325 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
