This recipe comes from my mom’s recipe box. I am not sure who the cook/author is, but most of the recipes in my mom’s box came from either my Granny, my great Aunt Edith or my great Aunt Irene. All were awesome cooks! My family LOVES these cookies when they are fresh and hot. They get ‘crunchy’ after they cool. Still yummy – just have a crunch when you eat them.
Oatmeal Crunchies
1 c sugar
1 c brown sugar
1 c shortening
2 eggs
2 c oatmeal
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
Mix altogether and drop by tsp. on lightly greased sheet at 350° for about 10 minutes.
