This is one of my recipes. The first time I had pizza spins was when I was about 10 years old. We were staying with our cousins in Chicago and my Aunt Pat fixed these for an evening snack. She used Jimmy Dean sausage when she made these. Over the years we switched to using hamburger rather than sausage. If we didn’t have the party rye bread, I have cut regular bread in half and put those on the cookie sheet. They aren’t as firm as the rye – but still taste good.
Pizza Spins
1 ½ lb. hamburger or sausage
½ to ¾ lb. Velveeta cheese
1 pkg. cocktail rye bread
Brown hamburger or sausage. Drain. Add cheese in small chunks. Stir until melted. Lay rye bread on a cookie sheet. Use approximately ½ to ¾ of the bag. Put a spoonful of hamburger mix on each piece. Broil until light brown or bubbling.
All amounts can vary depending on personal taste and quantity desired.
