Apple Cake with Sauce

2 c. sugar
½ c. softened oleo
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped walnuts
4 c. chopped apples
Mix sugar and oleo together. Beat in eggs and mix well. Then add dry ingredients and beat. Add apples and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9×13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
SAUCE:
½ c. oleo
½ c. brown sugar
½ c. white sugar
2 tsp. light Karo syrup
½ c. Carnation evaporated milk
½ tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
Mix on low heat until cooked thoroughly and thickened. Spoon over piece of cake and serve.
