WAFFELN ZUM NACHTISCH (Dessert Waffles)
1 cup butter
2 cups sifted flour
6 eggs, separated
1 cup buttermilk
½ teaspoon soda
Cut butter into flour, dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to flour mixture slowly. Beat till smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Fold in stiffly-beaten egg whites and bake on very hot waffle iron until golden brown. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar and serve with fruit in season, generally strawberries or cherries.
